“Cleanliness is next to godliness” Bal Swachhta Abhiyan is a campaign launched by the Government of India on 14th of November in 2014. It is a campaign for cleanliness which is to start on 14th of November (birthday of first Indian Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru) and end on 19th of November (birth anniversary of first Indian woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi). The government has ordered all the schools, colleges, and other educational institutions to celebrate the Children’s Day with worthy preparations in order to ensure the success of Bal Swachhta Abhiyan.

This cleanliness mission is planned to launch on the Children’s Day especially to easily increase the awareness about cleanliness among children all over India. Bal Swachhta Abhiyan has been implemented by the government to promote a sense of environmental and personal cleanliness in the children of the country.

This event is observed by the students of all the schools and colleges by means of active participation in many activities such as cultural programmes, essay writing competitions, debates on cleanliness, group discussion, painting, sketching, chart making, cleanliness exhibition, art-making competition, cleanliness of the nearby areas, environmental cleanliness activities, posters making on personal hygiene, social activities on cleanliness and many more cleanliness activities. The aim of the Bal Swachhta Abhiyan is just to inculcate the habits of maintaining cleanliness among kids and children of the country to make India a clean nation in the near future. Cleanliness is a good habit which is must to be inculcated among students from their childhood to be practiced throughout their life.
