Here is major highlights of 1 December 2023 current affairs
- His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has visited Dubai for the World Climate Action Summit. The event is being organized under the chairmanship of the United Arab Emirates, which has been an important partner of India in the field of climate action.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has recently inaugurated the 10,000th Jan Aushadhi Center at AIIMS, Deoghar. The Prime Minister also launched a program to increase the number of Jan Aushadhi Centers in the country from 10,000 to 25,000. Prime Minister launches ‘Drone Didi’ programme, 15,000 drones will be provided to women self-help groups in the next three years.
- Bharat Coking Coal Limited, under the Ministry of Coal, has started commercial operation of 5.0 million tonne per annum Madhuband Washery. This is the largest and most modern washery to further increase the coking coal supply in the steel sector.
- The Defense Acquisition Council has recently approved capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 2.23 lakh crore to enhance the operational capabilities of the armed forces. Under which, 98 percent of the funds will be raised from domestic industries to promote more ‘self-reliance’ in the defense sector.
- Recently, a high level committee under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah has approved the Recovery & Reconstruction (R&R) plan for Joshimath. Under this scheme, central assistance of Rs 1079.96 crore will be provided from the Recovery & Reconstruction window of the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
- ‘Jal Itihas Utsav‘ is being organized by the National Water Mission, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti on December 01, 2023 at Shamsi Pond, Jahaz Mahal, Mehrauli, Delhi. The objective of which is to increase public awareness towards the protection of water heritage sites, create a sense of ownership among the public, promote tourism as well as restore such heritage structures.
