Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a mobile app for the Unified Payme Interface (UPI). The application, which will be common across all banks and financial institutions, is called BHIM (Bharat Interface for Mobile) on December 30, 2016. The BHIM app will empower the poorest of the poor. It is for the small merchant, farmers in far-flung areas, tribals. That’s why its name has been borrowed from the man who sacrificed his life for the downtrodden.
BHIM App was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30th December 2016.
The app is developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) based on the Unified Payment Interface (UPI).
BHIM allow users to send or receive money to other UPI payment addresses.
BHIM app allows users to check their balance and create their QR code.
It allows a maximum of Rs. 10,000 per transaction and Rs. 20,000 within 24 hours.
