Subhas Chandra Bose was an Indian nationalist whose un-dimming patriotism made him a hero in India. The honoured title Netaji which means “Respected Leader” was bestowed upon him, a title first applied in early 1942 to him in Germany by the Indian soldiers of the Indische Legion and by the German and Indian officials in the Special Bureau for India in Berlin and later it was used throughout India.

Bose was a leader of the radical wing of the Indian National Congress in the late 1920s and 1930s who rose to become the Congress President in 1938 and 1939. However, he was dismissed from Congress leadership positions in 1939 because of ideological differences with Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress high command. Following this, he was placed under house arrest by the British before escaping from India in 1940.

He was an able leader and Indian nationalist who fought boldly during World War II for the freedom of India from the British yoke. He was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India who struggled a lot and inspired a large number of people to join in the freedom struggle. Bose was the most famous legendary figure and brave freedom fighter in the history of India. His noble contributions of freedom struggle are highly regarded and unforgettable in the history of India. He was a real brave hero of the India who had left his home and comfort forever for the cause of his motherland.

He believed that non-violence movement is not sufficient to bring freedom to India from the British rule so he chose revolution movement to bring freedom in the country. He fled from India to settle in Germany and then Japan where he made his own Indian National Army, also known as Azad Hind Fauj. He had included Indian prisoners of war and Indian residents of those countries in his Azad Hind Fauj to fight bravely against the British. His famous slogan to his army named ‘Delhi Chalo’ and ‘Jai Hind’. He inspired his army through his patriotic words of “Give me blood and I will give you freedom” to free his motherland from the foreign rule.

It is considered that Netaji died in a plane crash in 1945. The bad news of his death had ended all the hopes of his Indian National Army to fight against the British rule. Even after his death, his spirit was kept alive in the hearts of Indians as an everlasting inspiration.
